POST-AUTHORISATION SUMMARY OF POSITIVE OPINION∗
for
EXELON
International Non-proprietary Name (INN): rivastigmine
Following the adoption of a negative Opinion on 13 October 2005, to extend the therapeutic indication
of Exelon to include the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate dementia associated with
Parkinson’s disease, the Marketing Authorisation Holder (MAH), Novartis Europharm Ltd, requested
a re-examination of the opinon.
In order to assist the CHMP with this review, an expert meeting composed of experts in the fields of
dementia in Parkinson disease and statistics took place.
Having considered the grounds for re-examination presented by the MAH, the outcome of the expert
meeting and the new changes introduced in the product information, the Committee for Medicinal
Products for Human Use (CHMP) adopted a final positive opinion on 26 January 2006 to recommend
the variation to the terms of the marketing authorisation for the medicinal product Exelon.
The new indication adopted by CHMP is: “Symptomatic treatment of mild to moderately severe
dementia in patients with idiopathic Parkinson’s disease (PDD).” The CHMP concluded that Exelon’s
benefits outweigh the potential risks in this indication due to the following reasons:
• The studies submitted to support the new indication showed modest efficacy in PDD, however
this reflects an important benefit in a fraction of patients
• Exelon will be initiated and supervised by physicians with experience in PDD. Exelon will only
be started if a caregiver is available to monitor drug intake by the patient
• The product information has been amended to recommend an early review of efficacy with
discontinuation if ineffective
• With the recommendations now introduced in the product information the side effects of
gastro-intestinal symptoms and worsening of parkinsonian symptoms are considered
manageable
• The MAH committed to closely monitor nausea, vomiting, tremor and other adverse events
associated with worsening of parkinsonian symptoms and to report these events to CHMP
Detailed conditions for the use of this product will be described in the updated Summary of Product
Characteristics (SPC) which will be published in the revised European Public Assessment Report
(EPAR) and will be available in all official European Union languages after the variation to the
marketing authorisation has been granted by the European Commission.
For information, Exelon is already authorised for: “Symptomatic treatment of mild to moderately
severe Alzheimer’s dementia.”
∗ Summaries of positive opinion are published without prejudice to the Commission Decision, which will normally be issued within 44
days (Type II variations) and 67 days (Annex II applications) from adoption of the Opinion.

Dit was de dip nu...

weweten nu waar het aan ligt, en als je echt denkt aan een politiek spel stap je uit.

ik denk dat het gewoon regeltjes en bureaucratie was, miscommunicatie, bij 50 plus winst is iedereen ales vergeten.

Wat moet ie anders he? Het klinkt strijdlustig en wanhopig tegelijk. Maar ik moet toegeven dat de koers zich goed staande houdt op het moment. En dat ik nu alweer zin heb om er wat aan te schaffen. Zo makkelijk komen ze niet van me af.

Mensen goedenavond, ik ben weer over de schrik heen. Ik moet wel eerlijk zeggen dat ik GTCB nu wel een stuk minder vertrouw, volgens mij wordt er namelijk een spelletje gespeeld, alleen weet ik nog niet welke, maar daar komen we zeker achter.

Denk jij nou echt na 15 jaar onderzoek, en 150 miljoen dollar aan kosten, dat Atryn niet op de markt zal komen.
Dat is toch eigenlijk 1 en 1 optellen, ze hebben nog meer dan geld genoeg, en daarnaast is er nog meer dan genoeg nieuw geld op deze wereld wat altijd graag wil investeren.

Nu niet zonder stukken GTCB gaan zitten, er gebeuren nu te vreemde dingen met de koers.
Er wordt zo gretig gekocht, dit klopt gewoonweg niet, het lijkt wel of ze haast hebben !

ik weet ook niet wie het spel speelt, maar...ze spelen om te winnen..en dat is ..simpel..acceptatie by Emea en Fda .....uitschudden ging wel hard, op Yahoo kan je de grootste aandeelhouders zien, een beetje oud, ben benieuwd wie over een week boven aan de lijst staat.

Allemaal amateurs??? aaa nee dus...

Zeg het maar, ik heb eigenlijk nog nooit gezien dat GTCB sluit met zo'n groot handelsvolume in de laatste minuten !
Het zou mij niks verbazen als er maandag voorbeurs een persbericht komt.
