IT HAS been many years since that long gone biotech stock Epitan first promised an all-over tan without using the sun.

It's successor, the much less ambitious and more serious sounding Clinuvel, has nonetheless delivered a more satisfying time in the sun for shareholders.

The stock's price has firmed from the sub-50 days of last year to yesterday's close of $1.035 and it has just announced stage three clinical testing of its main drug CUV1647.

Gone is the sexy "tan in a pill" approach of Epitan, with the drug now being tested to treat nasty skin eruptions such as polymorphous light eruption (PLE or sun poisoning in layman's terms) and various precursors to skin cancer.

An added benefit for those brave souls in Manchester, England, who get an active dose of the PLP treatment is that they will get a few months in which they look like they have been tanning nude on the Riviera.

Other than the small skin implant treatment being tested, current PLE sufferers are told by their doctors to avoid the sun and use steroids to treat the symptoms -- usually a persistent itchy rash on exposed skin.

With a bit of luck in the test results, French-born CEO Dr Philippe Wolgen still might achieve his long stated aim of having the drug registered in 2009.

Once registered for use for some clinical conditions, there would be nothing preventing CUV1647 from being used for its melanin producing "side effect" of an all over tan.

Botox started out life in a similar way when it was first registered to treat neurological conditions. Now it's most common use is to make the faces of US actors incapable of showing much expression -- or wrinkles.

Anyone who wants a more vigorous and exciting read about the effects of this wonder drug should get hold of the original Epitan prospectus.

That document breathlessly described how the drug caused green tree frogs to turn black and made dogs coats turn darker.

One of the early human testers of the drug I spoke to raved about the effect on his skin.

"Mate, it looks like I've had a holiday on the Gold Coast but it lasts a lot longer," Calvin said at the time.

Sadly, his skin has now returned to its original shade pending a refresher course.

Geduld...Geduld en nog eens geduld.........

Iedereen die wilde kopen heeft dat de afg. maand gedaan voor een zeer aantrekkelijke koers.

Nieuwe geinteresseerden zullen gevonden moeten worden....en het fonds/nieuws heeft nog meer aandacht in de media nodig.

De koers zal stijgen, zonder twijfel....het kan echter nog wel nog weken blijven dobberen op dit niveau met lage volumes.

Tolhurst Research Report van 21 mei '07 staat op de Home page van Clinuvel. Ze zetten in op een 50%kans van slagen voor PMLE, fase III. Koersdoel ongewijzigd, ($1,48).

Ik vraag me af of die 50% wel gestoeld is op wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Word binnen de biosector normaliter standaard 50% kans van slagen voor fase III gehanteerd?. Met zo'n uitspraak brand je in ieder geval nooit je vingers.

De (dag)handel maakt in ieder geval gretig gebruik van de tijdelijke onzekerheid die bij de belegger is ontstaan.

Ik had al zo,n vermoeden, als je sharescene leest zou je meteen alles weer in de verkoop zetten, maar dit zijn ook niet meer dan gelukzoekers die elkaar gek maken.

Wat ik wel vreemd vindt is wie heeft er nou nog interesse heeft in deze emissie op 1.07 als je ze nu voor 0.91 ct kan kopen.

Beetje vreemd allemaal wat er gebeurd, nieuwe bodem....laten we het hopen.

Heb nog steeds het volste vertrouwen in een goede afloop maar ga zeker tussentijds winst nemen.

Afwachten wat er deze week nog staat te gebeuren, niet meer onaangename verrassingen hopelijk.

Vandaag handel in Australië boven het slot van gisteren($0.93), met een hoog volume! In Duitsland was er gisteren op €0,59 ook al veel belangstelling.

Nog wel wat wind maar de storm is geluwd. Iedere PB wordt door de daghandelelaar aangegrepen om de koers sterk naar boven of naar beneden te duwen, zeker bij groeiaandelen gaat dit normaal gepaard met heftige koersschommelingen. Laat je niet gek maken. Voordat je het weet mag je weer duur inkopen. Nu even een PB-tje van CUV erover heen en we kijken allemaal weer de andere kant op.

Het gaat weer de goede kant op in Australie...en volgens de technische analysten onder ons staat ons een koersexplosie te wachten. Toch nog 1 euro deze zomer?

Het gaat zeker goed daar Frank. volume boven de miljoen, koers thans $0,985 (0,60). Als ik het analistenrapport er nog eens op nalees hebben ze die 50% kans van slagen aangehouden omdat in het algemeen geldt dat fase III altijd pricair is in de biosector, dus niet specifiek voor CUV. Aangezien er op de zeeeeer korte termijn geen PB's te verwachten waren van CUV heeft men hierop de koers (tjjdelijk) gedrukt. Het feit dat we vandaag wederom een grote koerssprong met een hoog volume omhoog maken geeft al aan dat CUV gewoon zeer goed in de markt ligt. Maar het is en blijft voorlopig een groeiaandeel waar flinke koersschommelingen gewoon bij horen.

kan toeval zijn ., maar vandaag wordt de nieuwe aandelen emissie toegeschreven.
Wie dit al langer volgt weet dat bij de vorige aandelen emissie op 0.38$ ct na plaatsing het aandeel als een raket omhoog bleef gaan tot circa 0.80 $ ct en die doorbraak veroorzaakte toen de explosie naar 1.24$

Clinuvel Share Purchase Plan completed
Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: CUV, XETRA-DAX: UR9) has announced the close of the Share
Purchase Plan (SPP). A total of 377,570 shares were issued at A$1.07, raising A$404,000.
Together with the A$26 million raised via the recent private placement to international and Australian
institutions (26 April 2007), the A$404,000 raised from the SPP has resulted in a total of A$26.4 million in
additional funding. Clinuvel’s cash balance now totals approximately A$62.5 million.
The capital raised will be used to fund the expanded program for CUV1647, the fifth indication in
Photodynamic Therapy, the accelerated clinical program for Erythropoietic Protoporphyria (EPP), global
recruitment, ongoing research and development in the current bio-resorbable implant formulation, along with
a potential next generation formulation.

Clinuvel board member resigns
Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX:CUV, XETRA-DAX:UR9) today announced that Dr Terry Winters, a
board member for seven years since the inception of Clinuvel as a public company, has announced his
resignation as an Executive Director and Board member, effective immediately.
While a strong supporter of the Company, Dr Winters needs to devote more time to his Chairman/CEO
position at Vital Therapies and his partner responsibilities at Valley Ventures.
"With the time demands on me from Clinuvel as it enters this very exciting period of pivotal trials and the
equally exciting developments at Vital Therapies, I can no longer spend the time needed on both companies.

Uitsluitend positief nieuws maar de koers reageert niet....zelfs nog een paar centen terug. Erg vreemd allemaal. Kennelijk moet de potentie nog doordringen tot de grote massa.

Weliswaar heeft Clinuvel slechts 1 middel in de pijplijn en kent als ieder ander klein pharmaceutisch bedrijf haar risico´s, ik ben er nog steeds van overtuigd dat zij tussen 2008 en 2010 een big bang in Pharmaland gaat veroorzaken. Niet kwa vooruitstrevende techniek want die is al ettelijke jaren oud maar wel kwa koersontwikkeling.
Van €0,60 naar €xx,xx in een jaar....?
