Duitse vakbond roept op tot staking windturbinemaker Vestas

HAMBURG (ANP/DPA) - De Duitse vakbond IG Metall roept werknemers van de Deense producent van windturbines Vestas in Duitsland op om deze week te staken. IG Metall wil daarmee de druk verhogen op Vestas voor betere arbeidsvoorwaarden voor Duits personeel.

IG Metall, de grootste vakbond van Duitsland, wil onder meer een loonsverhoging, speciale betalingen en kortere werktijden voor ouder personeel bij Vestas. Het bedrijf heeft in Duitsland op meerdere locaties in totaal ongeveer 1700 werknemers in dienst.

De bond roept onder meer op tot acties bij de locatie van Vestas in Husum in het noordwesten van Duitsland en bij Thalfang in het zuidwesten van het land op maandag. Donderdag moet er dan een rally gehouden worden bij het Duitse hoofdkantoor van Vestas in Hamburg door personeel van het bedrijf uit het hele land.

Vestas Selected as Preferred Supplier of MunmuBaram Offshore Wind

Vestas announced that MunmuBaram, a joint venture between Shell and HEXICON, has named Vestas as the preferred turbine supplier for the 1.3 GW MunmuBaram floating offshore wind project in South Korea.

If the project materialises, Vestas will supply and install 84 units of the V236-15.0 MW turbine for the project, located off the south-east coast of South Korea. The turbines will be installed on floating foundations in the project area of approximately 240km2 with water depths ranging between 120 and 150 metres. This will mark the first announced large-scale floating offshore project for Vestas, and the first announced project of V236-15.0 MW for installation on floating foundations.

With this project, MunmuBaram and Vestas are together taking a leading role in South Korea’s offshore wind industry development and bringing the country one step closer to achieving its Net-Zero emissions goal.

Vestas Bags 203 MW Wind Turbine Order in US

Leading wind turbine supplier Vestas has received a 203 MW order to power an undisclosed wind project in the USA. The order consists of 45 V150-4.5 MW wind turbines.

The order includes supply, delivery, and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, designed to ensure optimised performance of the asset.

Turbine delivery begins in the third quarter of 2023 with commissioning scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Vestas Bags Wind Turbine Orders in Sweden & Spain

Leading wind turbine maker Vestas has received a 59 MW order to power an undisclosed wind project in Southern Sweden. The order includes a total of 13 V150-4.5 MW wind turbines at a hub height of 105 meters. The order includes supply, installation, and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a 35-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, designed to ensure optimised performance of the asset. The delivery and installation of the wind turbines are planned to take place in the second quarter of 2024 with the commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of 2024.

Renewable energy developer Norvento Enerxia has placed a 62 MW order for several wind parks to be located in Galicia, Spain. The contract includes the supply and installation of thirteen V150-4.5 MW wind turbines and a V136-3.45 MW wind turbine. Vestas will also provide service for the projects through a full scope, long-term service agreement. The V150 and V136 blades of the project will be manufactured at Vestas’ factory in Daimiel, Ciudad Real, Spain. All the towers will also be manufactured locally. Turbine delivery is scheduled by the third quarter of 2023.

Vestas Bags 5 Orders for Wind Turbines

Leading wind turbine supplier has announced that it has secured five orders for supply of wind turbinesVestas has received a

1. 32 MW order from gruppo De Vizia for the Siri and Deca wind parks, to be located in the Campania Region, Italy. The contract includes the supply and installation of four V136-4.5 MW and three V150-4.5 MW, as well as a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. Turbine delivery and commissioning are planned for the second half of 2023.

2. Vestas has received a 108 MW order from Infinergy UK to power the Limekiln project in the United Kingdom. The order includes supply, installation, and commissioning of 24 V136-4.5 MW turbines at a tip height of 150m, as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. The site is located around 13 miles west of Thurso in the Scottish Highlands. The delivery and installation of the wind turbines are expected to occur in the second quarter of 2024 with the commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of 2024.

3. Vestas has received a 126 MW order for the Bord na Móna Derrinlough Wind Farm Project in Ireland. The order includes a total of 21 V150-6.0 MW EnVentus wind turbines with a site-specific hub height of 110m for a site in County Offaly, located in the Irish midlands. The order includes supply, installation, and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, designed to ensure optimised performance of the assets. The delivery and installation of the wind turbines are expected to occur in the first quarter of 2024 with the commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of 2024

4. Vestas has received a 37 MW order for a wind park in Italy. The contract includes the supply and installation of six V162-6.2 MW wind turbines, as well as a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. Turbine delivery is expected by the third quarter of 2023 whilst commissioning is planned by the fourth quarter of 2023.

5. Vestas has received a 56 MW order from Statkraft Ireland to power the Cushaling wind project in Ireland. The order includes a total of nine V162-6.2 MW wind turbines at a tip height of 185m in counties Offaly and Kildare. The order includes supply, installation, and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a 35-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, designed to ensure optimised performance of the asset. The delivery and installation of the wind turbines are expected to occur in the first quarter of 2024 with the commissioning scheduled for the second quarter of 2024.

Vestas schiet toch nog tekort

Verlaagde outlook 2022 net niet gehaald.

(ABM FN-Dow Jones) Vestas heeft in 2022 net niet voldaan aan zijn in november verlaagde outlook. Dit bleek vrijdagochtend uit een update van de Deense maker van windmolens.

De lastige marktomstandigheden hielden aan in 2022, aldus Vestas. Verstoringen in de aanvoerketen en hogere kosten drukten op het resultaat.

Vestas benadrukte dat in het afgelopen kwartaal de resultaten ook nog eens tegenvielen door een aantal projectvertragingen, afschrijvingen en hogere voorzieningen.

In november vorig jaar verlaagde Vestas al de omzetverwachting voor 2022 naar een bandbreedte van 14,5 tot 15,5 miljard euro, waar eerder werd uitgegaan van 14,5 tot 16,0 miljard euro. Dat was al een verlaging, want aanvankelijk rekende de fabrikant nog op een omzet van 15,0 tot 16,5 miljard euro.

Uiteindelijk kwam de omzet in 2022 uit op 14,48 miljoen euro, net onder de onderkant van de laatste outlook.

Voor het lopende jaar rekent Vestas op een omzet van 14,0 tot 15,5 miljard euro.

Update: Vestas schiet toch nog tekort

(ABM FN-Dow Jones) Vestas heeft in 2022 net niet voldaan aan zijn in november verlaagde outlook. Dit bleek vrijdagochtend uit een update van de Deense maker van windmolens.

De lastige marktomstandigheden hielden aan in 2022, aldus Vestas. Verstoringen in de aanvoerketen en hogere kosten drukten op het resultaat.

Vestas benadrukte dat in het afgelopen kwartaal de resultaten ook nog eens tegenvielen door een aantal projectvertragingen, afschrijvingen en hogere voorzieningen.

In november vorig jaar verlaagde Vestas al de omzetverwachting voor 2022 naar een bandbreedte van 14,5 tot 15,5 miljard euro, waar eerder werd uitgegaan van 14,5 tot 16,0 miljard euro. Dat was al een verlaging, want aanvankelijk rekende de fabrikant nog op een omzet van 15,0 tot 16,5 miljard euro.

Vorige week berichtte windturbinefabrikant Vestas dat het een oplossing heeft gevonden waarmee alle windturbinebladen gerecycled kunnen worden - zelfs de bladen die al op stortplaatsen liggen. De oplossing maakt alle turbinebladen op basis van epoxy circulair zonder dat het ontwerp of de samenstelling van het bladmateriaal aangepast moeten worden.

Vestas, de Universiteit van Aarhus, het Deense Technologische Instituut en epoxyproducent Olin hebben een nieuw proces ontwikkeld waarmee epoxyhars chemisch kan worden afgebroken tot nieuwe grondstoffen. De vier industriële en academische partners vormden in mei 2021 een coalitie onder de naam CETEC - Circular Economy for Thermosets Epoxy Composites.

Tot nu toe was de windindustrie ervan overtuigd het een nieuwe benadering van materiaal, ontwerp en fabricage zou vergen om windturbinebladen aan het einde van hun levensduur recycleerbaar, of zelfs, circulair te maken. Met dit proces worden oude bladen op basis van epoxy een bron van grondstoffen. Zodra de nieuwe technologie op grote schaal wordt toegepast, kunnen zowel oud bladmateriaal, dat al op stortplaatsen ligt, als bladmateriaal in actieve windparken, gedemonteerd en hergebruikt worden. Dit luidt een heel nieuw tijdperk in voor de windindustrie en versnelt de evolutie naar circulariteit.

Het chemische proces zal nu opgeschaald worden tot een commerciële oplossing via een nieuw opgezette waardeketen, ondersteund door het Scandinavische recyclingbedrijf Stena Recycling en Olin. Eenmaal op schaal toegepast, betekent het proces het begin van een circulaire economie voor alle bestaande en toekomstige turbinebladen op basis van epoxy. Tot nu toe waren turbinebladen moeilijk te recyclen vanwege de chemische eigenschappen van epoxyhars, een veerkrachtige stof waarvan werd aangenomen dat deze onmogelijk in herbruikbare componenten kon worden afgebroken.

Als Vestas inderdaad een manier heeft gevonden om alle windturbinebladen overal te recyclen, dan is daarmee een van de grootste problemen van de windindustrie opgelost. WindEurope verwacht dat tegen 2025 jaarlijks ongeveer 25.000 ton bladen het einde van hun operationele leven zullen bereiken, en dat dit zal stijgen tot 52.000 ton tegen 2030. Deze doorbraak kon dan ook niet op een beter moment komen.

Vestas heeft van JUWA een order ontvangen voor vijf windprojecten in Duitsland van in totaal 63 MW.

In Spanje levert Vestas 31 windturbines van in totaal 140 MW voor de windparken Cerrato, Atalayas en San Cebrián.

In a significant move towards sustainable energy, Ørsted and Vestas, global leaders in renewable energy, have announced a commercial sustainability partnership. The partnership entails the procurement of low-carbon steel wind turbine towers and blades made from recycled materials from Vestas for all future joint offshore wind projects.

The deployment of offshore wind plays a crucial role in enhancing energy security, ensuring affordable energy access, and combating the climate crisis. While wind energy already offers a 99% lower carbon footprint compared to coal, it is essential to address the carbon emissions associated with the manufacturing of materials and components used in wind farms as part of the journey to achieve net-zero emissions.

To meet this challenge, Ørsted and Vestas have committed to installing low-carbon steel towers and blades made from recycled materials in all upcoming joint offshore wind farms. This partnership establishes a sustained demand for Vestas' innovative low-carbon and circular solutions.

The partnership commits to procuring a minimum of 25% low-carbon steel towers and scaling circular blade recycling technology for all joint future offshore wind farms. By utilizing scrap steel manufactured with on-site renewable electricity, carbon emissions from heavy steel plates used in towers can be reduced by up to 70%.

Vestas and its partners in the CETEC project have also made significant progress in addressing the circularity challenge of wind turbine blades. They have pioneered a solution to break down composite materials and reuse recovered epoxy resin for new blades, thus reducing the need for landfilling. Ørsted will procure wind turbine blades made from recycled materials from Vestas once the technology is ready for commercial manufacturing.

Licht hogere omzet Vestas

Outlook voor boekjaar 2023 deels verhoogd.

(ABM FN) Vestas heeft in het tweede kwartaal van dit jaar een hogere omzet geboekt. Dit maakte de Deense producent van windturbines woensdagochtend bekend met de publicatie van de kwartaalcijfers.

De omzet steeg op jaarbasis van 3,3 naar 3,4 miljard euro.

De EBIT-verlies vóór bijzondere posten was 70 miljoen euro, resulterend in een EBIT-marge van 2,0 procent negatief, vergeleken met 5,5 procent negatief in het tweede kwartaal van 2022.

De vrije kasstroom bedroeg 140 miljoen euro negatief in vergelijking met 362 miljoen euro negatief in het tweede kwartaal van 2022.

Er werden 8 procent meer windturbines besteld, met een totaal waarde van 20 miljard euro op 30 juni 2023.

CEO Henrik Andersen gaf aan dat de vergunnings- en regelgevingsonzekerheid een belangrijke uitdaging blijft in de energietransitie.

Hoewel de verstoringen in de toeleveringsketen afnemen, verwacht hij dat deze zich in de tweede helft van het jaar zullen voortzetten.

Het wereldwijde zakelijke klimaat zal naar zijn mening uitdagend blijven voor de rest van 2023.

Vestas zegt zich volledig in te zetten om winstgevend te worden, aldus Andersen. In het afgelopen kwartaal kwam het verlies uit op 115 miljoen euro tegen 119 miljoen euro een jaar eerder.

Outlook

Het bedrijf mikt voor 2023 onverminderd op een omzet van 14,0 tot 15,5 miljard euro.

De verwachting is dat de omzet uit diensten nu met ongeveer 10 procent zal groeien, waar voorheen op minimaal 5 procent werd gerekend.

Vestas verwacht een EBIT-marge vóór bijzondere posten van 2 procent negatief tot 3 procent positief, met een EBIT-marge bij diensten van circa 22 procent.

Vestas offloads 656-MW Italian wind portfolio to Plenitude company

Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) on Thursday said it has sold a 656-MW wind project portfolio in Italy to PLT Energia in an example of leveraging its development portfolio to strengthen its partnership with customers.

The buyer is an Italian renewables producer that is owned by Plenitude, the renewables arm of Italian oil and gas major Eni SpA (BIT:ENI), and is a long-term customer of Vestas.

“It is a pleasure to do business with a solvent and capable partner as PLT Energia that will continue investing in developing these projects, which are designed for Vestas technology,” Inigo Sabater, Senior Vice President Development EMEA & LATAM, commented and added that Vestas will continue originating projects in Italy.

PLT Energia chief executive Stefano Marulli said that this deal supports the company’s growth plans in Italy, Europe and the US, with a pipeline of more than 3 GW under construction and in advanced development.

Vestas Development has a pipeline of around 30 GW and, through its development activities, has already sourced over 6.5 GW of firm projects.

Vestas lands conditional order for 1.6-GW Nordlicht offshore complex

Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has signed a conditional agreement with Vattenfall AB and BASF SE (ETR:BAS) to supply the turbines for their Nordlicht 1 and 2 offshore wind projects with an overall capacity of around 1.6 GW in the German North Sea.

The Danish wind turbine manufacturer is set to supply 112 V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbines for the projects, 68 units for Nordlicht 1 and 44 for Nordlicht 2. The contract also includes a five-year service and warranty agreement and a 30-year operational support agreement.
