Nova Scotia's offshore oil and gas regulator said on Wednesday that the problematic Deep Panuke gas field had ceased production earlier this week. A weekly production report (pdf) from the Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board said that the 300 million-cubic-feet-per-day gas facility was offline after a "production shutdown" on Tuesday.
Gas giant Encana, which has agreed to buy 100% of the production from Deep Panuke, declined to comment on the shutdown. "We are not providing commentary on daily variances in production," an Encana spokeswoman said. She would not elaborate on whether the shutdown was a day-to-day or a week-to-week issue.
SBM Offshore, which owns and operates the platform, could not be reached for immediate comment.
