Facing off for Chissonga prize
The battle lines have been drawn on Maersk Oil’s deep-water Chissonga project in Block 16 off Angola, where three groups of bidders are poised to vie for each of the two key surface facilities.
Sources said the Danish field operator has already made its recommendations to Angolan state oil company Sonangol on which contractors should be invited to bid for the contracts to supply a tension-leg wellhead platform and a converted floating production, storage and offloading system respectively.
Tender documents are expected to be sent out to the chosen contractors once Sonangol gives the all-clear, and recipients will then be part of a design competition — which apparently will be fully compensated — lasting about three or four months, Upstream was told.
