Transaction number?

Just a quick question, I went to go buy some stocks and when I'm on the transaction page it asks what I want the number to be. does that mean the number of shares I would like to buy? also what is the difference between number and nominal. What I did not understand was that when I put down 500 as the number, and then had the waiting status on the stock, I also had under the title "Day" 20, which appeared to be counting down as each day passes, does that mean I have to wait 20 days for the transaction to complete?

I'll be interested in some of the answers, but I can answer the last.

The '20' days means that the request to deal will exist for 20 days, so you must have place a value in the share price. That means the deal will only happen if the share price is reached (and there is a real deal of the amount of shares you're selling/buying).

The buy or sell could occur within minutes (bearing in mind the 15min+ delay) or could occur days away.

Once the 20 days expire the request to deal will disappear.

The difference between number and nominal is simple: number is the amount of shares you want to buy, nominal is the amount of cash you want to invest.

VT .that is a very lame reply .What is happening now is i have contacted most of the advertisers u are making money from ,usung your false advertising .If u thought that advertising a charity like Mcmillan is going to make it look like u arent making money from advertising is also lame.
So i happily inform you that you might be able to fool some people ...but not all.It is just a matter of time now before VT is finished as a source of income for you.

You can't upset thousands of peopele without it coming back to haunt you .
