i was reading through the forums and noticed a comment on "mining stocks being risky", i find that a very perculiar comment considering when economys start to pick back up, industrials such as these pick up first due to increase in the need for raw materials,

what were you basing this info on, or are you just speculating as traderes do.

be interesting to hear back

:) i kept my mining shares tbh and there still doing well, lost a little on xstrata today and lloyds but should be ok :)

the mining has been going strong since i bought them in january, this month they really picked up, im just waiting on a dip, but im guessing this wont happen for a while in your opinion?

what i really want to know is when ferrexpo will stop climbing, its incredible the gains there getting, im jealous, lol

Algabra King the economy is not picking up as strongly as some people might have you believe. With that in mind I think mining stocks have raced ahead too quickly. I also think the FTSE100 is punching way above its weight just now and is due for a downward correction.
These are purely my thoughts and yes I have been wrong in the past.

i have my own own opinions thanks.

All i was saying is when markets start to pick up the first stocks to do well are industrials. This isnt my opinion, that is a fact.

I dont for a second think the economy will reach where it was before the crash for many many years due to the massive debts.

The markets are recovering, we are out off recession even if it is .1 of a percent.

i think other factors are more important than just the uk economy ie USA there recovering well, and they are well placed with a good infastructure to do it.

Do you not agree, when the markets have been fluctulating in the past months 90% of the time its been based on news from usa and china, not the uk.

The marrkets are strongly interconnected, if they werent they would not have crashed worldwide as they did.

Also if you think the mining stocks are overvalued, why not check out there figures and ratios to see if they are overvalued or not.

I get the impression you are speculating

Are'nt we all speculating???
When i said about the economy I meant globally. Half of Europe is still in recession and USA are still in recovery mode. I still think miners will drop considerably over the next few weeks!!
Thanks for the debate...............

But there only growing because there is an increased demand for them, until the demand drops they should be able to sustain this, good to hear others points though, im very opened minded.

can you explain why? and roughly when you think this will happen (be good to know, good time to short them, lol)? and how overvalued do you think these stocks are?

i have xstarta and rio tinto in my portfolio but may add another (one involved in iron ore to be specific). xstrata p/e ratio is huge where as rio tinto has a good one.

Its prob just another bubble, which in time will burst, but i intend to get out before that. (ahh the perfect trade).

Im quite interested in the price of gold and silver, that to me seems inflated, and this was due to the lack of confidence in the markets. So when the market reach a top end what will happen to the all time high gold price. Wish i knew

if i can just add something

ive dropped over 300 places this month so far (3 places in the all time ranks) since winning and the drop has been caused by the mining :P

but im holding em cause its likely there gonna rise, so if ya wanna go for mining shares go now :)

Congratulations on your win last month Mentalsit.
Miners continue to make gains this month (all up from 4 weeks ago) Some dips in the last few days.
I think Ferrexpo, Khazakhmys, Vedanta and Xstrata have made very big gains in the last year. The others may be a better bet having made smaller steady gains.
I will sell my mining stocks tomorrow and maybe short a few for next week again. Maybe the four I mentioned earlier.............
