Smit neemt 50%-belang in Ocean Marine Services in Egypte
AMSTERDAM (FD.nl/Betten) - Smit Internationale heeft een 50%-belang verworven in het Egyptische Ocean Marine Services. Dat meldt het bergingsbedrijf dinsdag in een persbericht, zonder een prijs te noemen.

Gezamenlijk met een partnerbedrijf zullen zeven werkschepen worden ingezet voor de Egyptische petroleumindustrie.

Men is al een tijdje met de Napoli bezig... 5 maanden al, moet in H1 toch ook een positieve bijdrage leveren aan het resultaat..

‘MSC Napoli’

18 January 2007 - present

Container ship ‘MSC Napoli’ suffered severe damage during a violent storm in the English Channel on 18 January 2007. SMIT Salvage was contracted to salvage the vessel which involves the discharge of all 2300 containers and the ultimate refloating of the vessel.

Initially almost 4000 tonnes of bunker oil was safely recovered. A large barge equipped with two cranes lifted off the containers and placed them on board a ‘shuttle barge’.

At the beginning of March 2007 all 860 on-deck containers were removed. The salvage operation proceeded with the discharge of the containers from the holds.

On 17 May the last container was discharged. This part, carried out by a salvage team of some 40 people, took about 4 months. Currently equipment is being mobilized and preparations are made for the dewatering of the various compartments of the ‘MSC Napoli’, sothat within a few weeks from now the vessel will ultimately be reloated.

Subsequently the vessel will be redelivered to the owners.

Hangt waarschijnlijk beetje van het soort contract en de rates af... Overall zal het een goed H1 zijn, gezien de winstverwachting die recent is afgegeven. Maar of dat op het conto van 1 berging toe te schrijven is?
