Interoute Named Best Pan-European Wholesale Telecoms Provider

Interoute scoops two awards recognising network innovation and true Pan-European focus

London, UK, 15 November 2006 - Interoute, owner of Europe’s most advanced next-generation voice and data network, has been named as the Best Pan-European Wholesale Provider in the Capacity Magazine Global Wholesale Telecommunications Awards. The judges acknowledged Interoute as the only next generation network encompassing the majority of the European Union; from London to Warsaw and from Stockholm to Sofia.

The panel were impressed by Interoute’s true pan-European footprint, and recognised the company as the only operator boasting significant presence in both Western and Eastern Europe, a position strengthened by the acquisition in 2004 of CECOM in Czech Republic, and most recently TPN in Bulgaria.

Rachel Jones, Managing Director of Telcap, publishers of Capacity, commented: “Interoute was the clear winner in this category. It has a very impressive network reach which the company is continually looking to improve upon, and is truly pan-European in its focus. By adding established businesses to the company’s existing operations in Romania, Hungary and Poland, Interoute’s Eastern-European capabilities are second-to-none.”

The judges also noted that the network footprint covers 40,000 kilometres with backbone/long-haul connectivity to 77 cities and metropolitan area networks in 20 of those cities. The company has 190 points of presence and the combined network assets represent a total investment in excess of €2.5 billion.

Jim Kinsella, CEO, Interoute, said: “Winning the Best Pan-European Wholesale Provider Award is fantastic recognition for our efforts. As an organisation, Interoute is continually striving to develop innovative network solutions that form the backbone of European commerce. Our 14,000 plus customers including every major incumbent telecoms operator as well as governments and a broad range of Fortune 500 firms heavily dependent on the secure network infrastructure, which we are continually updating. To be acknowledged for our achievements in this way is very gratifying.”

Interoute has also claimed the Best Content Service Award at the Total Telecom World Communication Awards for its industry proven Media Manager service. The panel of judges were impressed by Interoute’s customer list including the likes of EMI, Flextech, Pete Tong and Living TV, as well as the intuitive and secure nature of the Media Manager platform.
