TomTom lapt wel meer aan zijn laars. Inavi Systems signs an official partnership with TomTom, Europe's No. 1 map supplier

I-Navi Systems, a mobility and self-driving map platform development subsidiary, has signed an official partnership with TomTom (Amsterdam Stock Exchange: TOM2), Europe's No. 1 map supplier and location information technology company, for Digital Cockpit.

Through this contract, INAVI Systems plays the roles of 'Service Provider', 'App Developer', and 'System integrator' in the TomTom digital cockpit partner system and completes TomTom in Korea. It plans to carry out related development and business cooperation, including the supply of navigation for the digital cockpit service for cars.

TomTom's Digital Cockpit is the world's first Android-based open platform enabling automakers, software development companies and content providers to develop software for finished vehicle applications. Through this partnership, I-Navi Systems secured an opportunity to apply a navigation solution optimized for the domestic service environment to the digital cockpit and introduce it to global automakers.

In addition, the two companies plan to exhibit the jointly developed TomTom digital cockpit at the 2023 CES (Customer Electronics Shows). Through this exhibition, I-Navi Systems plans to introduce and demonstrate its navigation service linked to the TomTom digital cockpit for various global finished vehicle customers.

Als ik het goed lees is Quest Global zowel qua omzet als aantal werknemers 3 a 4 keer zo groot als TomTom en die wijden er wel een PB aan.

Twee grote system integrators die een persbericht uitdoen over samenwerking met TomTom voor het integreren van de digital cockpit bij autofabrikanten; eentje voor Europa, US, Azië en de andere partij specifiek in Korea (waar Hyundai/KIA zit).

Hoe groot is dan de kans dat TomTom 0,0 deals heeft voor haar digitale cockpit?

als ze geen pb uitsturen is het niet goed
als ze wel een pb uitsturen ontbreekt de financiële impact
als ze een volledig pb uitsturen dan doet google of apple of here of xxx het beter
oftewel : tt kan het (in de ogen van sommigen) NOOIT goed gedaan

Al deze ‘ kleine’ nieuwe afspraken rond Indigo passen naadloos in bedrijfsversie van Derk Haank ( voorzitter RvC) Hij vindt dat TT teveel kleine klanten laat liggen en dat veel kleintjes tot een behoorlijke omzet stijging kan leiden. Als. de twee net langs gekomen partijen gaan werken met Indigo en hun klanten daarmee gaan voorzien, zal er veel spin-off met bv Traffic bijkomen. Met als gevolg meer data. Met als gevolg nog beter etc. Dat met vliegwieleffect van Overture maps moet TT extra zet in de goeie richting geven!

TomTom surpassed Google to take the second rank for the first time in Counterpoint’s Location Platform CORE evaluation rankings. 2022 was quite an eventful year for the Dutch map maker. Ik wilde weten wie Quest bedient. Het is ontstaan met Japanse autofabrikanten als klant en na deze overname bedienen ze ook de Duitse, met name BMW.

Geen persbericht uitsturen lijkt me geen optie voor een professionele onderneming die zijn aandeelhouders serieus neemt. Een volledig PB inclusief financiele details doet TomTom nooit.

Google doet het eigenlijk op alle vlakken beter, ze krijgen het zelfs voor elkaar dat de OEM een persbericht plaatst. Dat vind ik wel sterk voor de beeldvorming, je ziet dat de autobouwers exciting en trots zijn dat ze met Google mogen werken. Bij TomTom is dat helaas niet het geval, dat moet altijd "in stealth mode". Misschien komt dat door het wat oubollige imago van de TomTom kastjes, of het debacle met de lancering van Apple Maps.

Zeg nou zelf, het zou wel stoer zijn als TomTom dergelijke pb's op de site van een OEM'er zoals VW zal krijgen, zoals hieronder het voorbeeld hoe Google dit aanpakt. Dat lijkt ijdele hoop, en geeft de power van Google aan, TomTom heeft toch een heel andere positie in de keten.
