Prosus's deep-dive call series #3:
Payment & Fintech (26 April 2022 15:00 CET)
We are pleased to invite you to join a call with Prosus’s Payment & Fintech team on 26 April 2022 at 15:00 CET. This is the third event in our deep dive call series, which provides a deeper look at Prosus’s portfolio and investment strategy.
Laurent La Moal, CEO of PayU, will host the call and he will be joined by PayU’s CFO, Aakash Moondhra and Prashanth Ranganathan, CEO of PayU Credit. They will focus on the credit opportunity in India.
PayU is a leading financial services provider in global growth markets including India, Turkey and Latin America. Over the last three years, PayU has grown transaction volumes more than 40% per annum as it benefits from the shift to digital business models. Post completion of BillDesk (pending regulatory approval), PayU will become the 7th largest online payments company with a TPV of more than US$100bn.
The digital payment market in India is highly attractive. With over 700m internet users, India is now the second-largest internet market in the world, almost twice as big as the US and growing quickly. Underpinned by national digital initiatives, rising smartphone penetration and recent acceleration of digital activity, PayU is stepping up its ambition.
From its payment processing core, PayU is leveraging its ecosystem of consumers, banks and merchants to extend into financial verticals such as credit. PayU is now a leading player in the buy-now-pay-later category in India, being the first to launch a product with LazyPay which continues to see significant traction in 2022. India is expected to be the second-largest BNPL market globally by 2025. On the call, the team will discuss their ambition, strategy and outlook for investment and profitability.
