Reagents have been one of the major challenges in labs mass testing for Covid 19 and as Novacyt rapidly expands into de-centralised testing, there will be an even greater demand for reagents than before. PROmate™ solves this issue by not only freeze-drying some of the reagents required, but also includes a viral inactivation technology to neutralise risk of contamination. This has incredible implications for the future of testing as it means the complexity of gold standard testing is greatly reduced, and the burden of safety measures needed to handle and work with a live virus are reduced with PROmate™.

LAMP testen (ook hier komt NOVA tevoorschijn in het minder accurate domein waar de overheid op inzet)
LAMP tests are excellent high throughput, low cost and fairly accurate ways to detect Covid 19 and the UK government has made it a key part of their Moonshot program. Optigene has had success here with validating their test earlier in the year and now Novacyt will launch their own version as soon as January 2021. The surprise move will boost Novacyt’s offering into the lower accuracy, but rapid bulk testing market and uniquely, customers will not have to make a choice between kits, as the LAMP test is designed to be used in the Q16 and Q32 devices.

Probably the most surprising move and the most concerning. Novacyt was first off the mark earlier in the year – a breakthrough which they won an award for – and they are already moving onto a new variant again. There have been constant mutations, and PrimerDesign run a weekly program to ensure their tests’ 100% specificity holds up – and so far it has.
