WEBFLEET gewinnt Telematik Award in der Kategorie ECO-Telematik

WEBFLEET und TomTom ecoPLUS von TomTom Telematics wurden beim diesjährigen Telematik Award der Mediengruppe Telematikmarkt.de in der Kategorie ECO-Telematik als Sieger ausgezeichnet. Die Fachjury, ein unabhängiges Team aus Vertretern von Wissenschaft und Industrie, bezeichnete die Lösung des Telematik-Anbieters als „kompaktes, preiswertes System, das Unternehmen hilft, spritsparend zu fahren“. Auch die gute und übersichtliche visuelle Darstellung der fahrzeugrelevanten Angaben sowie das „Gesamtkonzept der ganzen Produktlinie“ überzeugten die Juroren.

Verbunden mit dem OBD-II-Steckplatz im Fahrzeug, liefert TomTom ecoPLUS wertvolle Informationen etwa zu Kraftstoffbrauch, CO2-Ausstoß und Leerlaufzeiten an WEBFLEET. Fuhrparkverantwortliche können so ihre Spritkosten senken; auch anstehende Wartungstermine haben sie immer im Blick. „Die Entscheidung der Jury zeigt, welchen Stellenwert die grüne Flotte hat“, so Axel Backof, Sales Director DACH/EE bei TomTom Telematics. „Intelligente Systeme wie unser TomTom ecoPLUS machen Geschäftsprozesse effizienter und umweltfreundlicher – genau, was heute gefragt ist.“

Beim mittlerweile vierten Telematik-Award gab es Preise in elf Kategorien im Bereich Fahrzeug-Telematik sowie zwei Sonderpreise zu gewinnen. Überreicht wurden die Preise im Rahmen der Fachmesse IAA Nutzfahrzeuge (25.09. bis 02.10. 2014) in Hannover. Der Telematik-Award wird im jährlichen Wechsel für die Bereiche FAHRZEUG-Telematik und HUMAN-Telematik von der Mediengruppe Telematikmarkt.de ausgeschrieben. Kooperationspartner des diesjährigen Awards sind der Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) und die Technische Fachhochschule Wildau.

The deal means that TomTom’s navigation products will be featured in the Smart range starting in Europe in 2014, with the US and China to follow in 2015.

The “Smart Media” infotainment system will come equipped with TomTom’s navigation software, maps, and three years of TomTom Live Traffic. Combining this with Smart’s 7” touch screen, voice recognition, and smartphone integration will ensure that Smart drivers have a world-class infotainment system.

TomTom has unique insight into the way people move, with over five billion traffic measurements a day and 200,000 map edits a month. Processing and sharing this information with drivers in an easy-to-use format has made TomTom a global leader in navigation. Combining this with TomTom’s extensive experience helps automotive manufacturers create competitive infotainment systems that drivers want.

Op zich wisten we die Smart natuurlijk al, maar die door jou dik gemaakte passage is inderdaad weer heel erg leuk nieuws. TomTom begint nu toch echt serieus te penetreren in die gigantische Chinese markt.

Voor TomTom is het te hopen dat deze generatie van de Smarts over de volle breedte zal gaan aanslaan. De recente A-Klasse doet in ieder geval alle eland-autootjes (oder Elend-wagen?) vergeten.

De eerste Smarts in Europa worden dit jaar al met het complete navigatiesysteem van TomTom uitgerust. Smarts in China en de Verenigde Staten volgen in 2015. Als eerste krijgen de modellen Smart Fortwo en Forfour de navigatie van TomTom.

Daimler AG (DAI)’s Smart brand plans to introduce more models and expand its sales network in China as the producer of two-seater compact city cars seeks more orders in a market dominated by SUVs and minivans.

The maker of Mercedes-Benz cars plans to bring to China an electric version of its two-seater Smart Fortwo and a new four-seater being developed with Renault SA (RNO), head of Smart Brand Annette Winkler said in an interview. Smart expects to boost annual sales in the nation by 15 percent annually, on average, in the next few years by tapping demand in cities with a population of more than one million, she said Aug. 10.

Smart plans to have 100 sales outlets in about 75 Chinese cities by the end of this year, compared with 88 showrooms in 68 cities now, Winkler said.

“There are 160 cities with more than one million people, and many of them lack parking space, have high density and are culturally very open,” she said in Nanjing in eastern China. “All this fits together.”For Daimler, which doesn’t break out Smart’s earnings, the small vehicle brand has given the company access to younger buyers and allowed the carmaker to meet carbon-dioxide emission restrictions. Smart started as a joint venture with Swatch Group AG, which sold its holding shortly after the brand was introduced.

Ik was al verbaasd bij de opening dat er zo weinig instappers zouden zijn. Zo blind kan de markt toch niet zijn? Maar nu lijkt het toch lekker op gang te komen.
