De CEO van Cygic werd recent geinterviewd en stelde dat ze op Android ongeveer net zoveel verdienen als op Apple iOS. Dat is misschien een goed referentiekader voor de mogelijkheden van TomTom op Android. Cygic gebruikt trouwens TomTom kaarten.

Sygic CEO Michal Stencl: "We Are Making as Much Money on Android as on iOS“Last week GPS Business News interviewed with Michal Stencl, CEO at Sygic, a mobile navigation company based in Slovakia that provides its software to the iPhone and Android platforms.
Since the early days of the app stores Sygic's strategy has been to provide premium navigation based on content quality and software innovation to distance itself from the free offerings increasingly available on the market. Despite the free Google navigation software Stencl explained us that his company is currently making as much money on Android as on iOS.
Last February the company announced to have reached more than 5 million downloads of the trial version of its Android navigation software (free for one to two weeks). A single digit percent of customers are currently signing up for a paid version of the software after the trial, he told us in this podcast.
Stencl is optimistic for the future of his company, currently hiring people and expecting his staff to grow from 90 to 125 employees by the end of the year. Liten to the full podcast interview below: Michal Stencl Sygic FIN.mp3 (11.89 MB)
